Hale School firmly believes in the benefits of a boys-only education while also recognising that boys must be able to develop positive relationships with girls.
We believe we offer the best of both worlds by providing a world-class, boy-focused education, while providing meaningful opportunities to connect with girls outside the classroom.
Hale School has long had a partnership with its sister school, St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School and has been building on that relationship in recent years to provide new and increasing co-curricular opportunities. These days, Hale boys and St Mary’s girls continue to rehearse and perform together in the combined school music ensembles, undertake respectful relationships programs, participate in academic competitions and attend social events, but they also have opportunities to share fun activities of mutual interest such as combined clubs, cooking and woodwork workshops, sports meets, games and play activities (for the younger students), alongside student leadership symposiums and meetings.
Hale School has also recently extended its partnership with Perth College and St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls to provide further opportunities for interaction, including student leadership initiatives, tours and social events.
Hale School continues to operate the Redfoot Youth Theatre, which invites girls from any school (Years 7 to 12) to join in various theatre workshops and productions across the school year. This is a strong and inclusive community that has fostered many new friendships.
Hale boarding students have additional opportunities to share chapel services, meals and activities with the St Mary’s boarders, and social activities with boys and girls from various boarding schools around Perth.
We see the benefits of single-sex education every day, but as a leader in contemporary boys’ education, we are committed to preparing our boys for life. Ensuring our boys are supported to meet and develop positive relationships with girls is one way we do this.
