At Hale School we all take our individual and collective responsibilities around child protection very seriously. We understand and work toward facilitating a whole school approach to all elements of the Australian Student Wellbeing and the National Safe Schools Frameworks.
We endeavour to meet the requirements of these frameworks by being explicit in our standards and expectations of all staff. These beliefs are outlined in several important foundations, which include documents like our Child Safe Policy, Code of Ethics and Conduct, our Anglican Heritage and School values.
These along with other associated documents mean that as an employee of the School, you will be required to meet clear behavioural standards. These are outlined in the papers listed above along with our Child Protection and Mandatory Reporting Policy and How to Comply with the Code of Conduct for All Staff, as updated from time to time.
Child safety is also expressed through our day-to-day interactions with each other and the boys. Consequently, as an employee at Hale School we anticipate that you will:
- Provide a welcoming and safe environment for children and young people.
- Promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
- Ensure that our interactions with children and young people are positive and safe.
- Act as a positive role model for children and young people.
Furthermore, as part of your duties and responsibilities as an employee you are also required to:
- Provide adequate care and supervision of children and young people in your charge.
- Report any suspicions, concerns, allegations, or disclosures of alleged abuse in accordance with our Child Safe and Mandatory Reporting policy and procedure.
- Maintain a valid Working with Children Check.
- Report to the Headmaster any criminal charges or convictions you receive during your employment that may indicate a possible risk to children and young people.
